„„Road network development concept“ “, drawn-up by Slovak Road Network in June 1998 is followed by „Road network development concept 2004“, arising form the needs listed below:
- the need of a new complex transport-engineering analysis of the whole road network as a basis for the next development concept, elaboration of medium-term plan of the I. class road construction and a draft of construction in long-term development plan,
- rising awareness of the road management staff regarding the express-ways in relation to the I. class roads and other roads, aimed at improvment of the quality of the investment preparation,
- importance to apply the latest national motor vehicle census,
- • provide the Higher Regional Units with the basic information on the II. and III. class road network, offer recommendations for further development concept and supporting documents for regional preparation and re-construction of the II. and III. class roads.
The road network concept does not analyse the highway issues and conditions where over 50% of its planned length is already in operation.
