Road traffic safety (BECEP) together with related traffic casualties on land routes is an important factor of the road conditions (construction, technology) and traffic (transport organization) which have an impact on the fullfilment of people‘s needs in transportation. Therefore it is an important criterium for planning, construction, refurbishment and maintenance of road network.
Motorization and automobilization are constantly on rise. Together with some advantages it means also extensive burden for whole road network and much higher demand for traffic and its safety.
Traffic safety is not only transport and social but also economic issue. Road accidents and casualties mean high material damage, permanent injuries and often irreplaceable human life loss.
Therefore the road safety is in the center of attention of the whole world including the European Union. As a member of EU we are obliged to reach all European standards comparable to developed EU countries.
