The Ministry of Transport, Construction and Regional development is the authority covering the activities to support and improve road safety through “National plan for BECEP in SR 2011/2020”. This plan should decrease the number of road casualties by 50%.
The plan analyses development of road casualties to date and the experience with taking measures in the past. It contains the frame objectives for all respective departments:
A. Reduction of accidents as a result of speeding offences and unsuitable speed for surrounding conditions
B. Reduction of accidents as a result of alcohol or drug use
C. Reduction of accidents of vulnerable road users
D. Strengthening security through providing effective traffic education at schools and proper training of applicants for a driving licence at driving schools
E. Increasing the level of security on all road infrastructure
F. Increasing the level of security through safer vehicles and implementing inteligent transport systems
G. Increasing the level of security at cargo and bus transportation
H. Increasing the level of post-accident care
I. Management of road traffic security
The main result of implementation of the above mentioned practises should be comprehensive reduction of negative impact of road accidents in Slovak road traffic. Especially by implementing of the tasks in section E.2.2 and E.5.2 in the zones of critical casulties SSC contibutes to the fullfilment of objectives in E.
New national plan is a follow up to the„European action plan of road safety“ until 2010, issued by EU and based on „the white book“ and our National plan for the increase of road safety for 2005-2010.
